Bumper Stickers, Car and Truck Bumpers
The
car bumper is the first line of defense in the event of a minor collision.
They are designed to absorb the energy of a crash while preventing any
damage to the vital safety and mechanical systems of the vehicle. In
the event of a major collision, the bumpers act in coordination with
other safety features, like crumple zones, to minimize the possibility
of injury to the passengers.
At Bumperusa.com, we know bumpers. We know how they work, how they’re
made and what they’re required to do; and we want to pass this
information along to you, the consumer. Our site is dedicated to providing

The auto bumper has come a long way over the decades. During the 1950’s
through the 1970’s, the chrome bumper was king. They were considered
an integral part of the aesthetics of the design and could be quite
ornate. Many classic cars are considered “classic” because
how the front bumper was used to accent the grill, and the back bumper
was used to accent the tail end.
The end of the 1970’s saw the government issuing a set of bumper
standards for the car industry. These standards, and subsequent amendments
during the 1980’s, were to have a significant impact on the look
and function of car and truck bumpers. The new safety requirements made
it harder to make a visually pleasing bumper that could measure up to
the new standards.
In the 1980’s, amendments were made to the government standard
that reduced the safety requirements slightly. This allowed car manufacturers
to introduce a more lightweight design that was to be covered with a
more aesthetically pleasing bumper cover. This cover allowed the bumper
to be seamlessly incorporated into the overall look of the vehicle.
During the 1990’s, the growing popularity of car modification
made the custom bumper a commonly seen addition to a vehicle. Amateur
street racers created completely unique body modifications to their
vehicles; which were intended to make them look more like those that
were seen on the race track. Additional accessories like bumper lights
were often incorporated into the designs as well.
One bumper accessory that has maintained its popularity throughout
decades of car design is the bumper sticker. For more than 40 years
now, Americans have added a bit of their personalities and opinions
through the extensive use of these stickers. They are commonly used
to express political and religious opinion of the vehicle’s owner.
This past campaign season saw thousands of McCain and Obama bumper stickers,
with messages ranging from adoration to abhorrence. Stickers proclaiming
the absurd and hilarious are just as popular today as they’ve
ever been.
